Dr. Amir Khoshbin is an orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty expertise in adult hip and knee reconstruction and trauma. Dr. Amir Khoshbin is an orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty expertise in adult hip and knee reconstruction and trauma. His clinical practice focuses on primary and complex revision joint arthroplasty, Direct Anterior Approach (DAA) hip replacement, and the management of complex lower extremity trauma, including pelvic and acetabular fractures.


 


He completed his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Toronto, where he also undertook residency training in orthopaedic surgery. During residency, he was enrolled in the Surgeon Scientist Program and earned a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology. Dr. Khoshbin then pursued advanced fellowship training in orthopaedic trauma at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston through the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA), followed by a second fellowship in Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement at the world-renowned Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.


 


Dr. Khoshbin currently serves as Division Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at St. Michael’s Hospital and holds the inaugural Agnico Eagle Chair in Joint Arthroplasty. He is also the 2025 Chair of Research for the Canadian Arthroplasty Society and the Chair of Research for the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Toronto.


 


An accomplished academic surgeon, Dr. Khoshbin has authored more than one hundred peer-reviewed publications and secured competitive research funding from leading organizations including the OTA, AAHKS, COA, AAOS, CIHR, and AO Trauma. He currently serves as senior principal investigator for three international randomized controlled trials. His research leadership and clinical expertise continue to advance the field of orthopaedic surgery both nationally and internationally.

 Caroline is an accomplished Advanced Practice Physiotherapist with over three decades of dedicated experience in rehabilitation science and patient care. She has spent their entire career at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, ON, where she has served as an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist since 2006, after a long tenure as a Physiothera

 Caroline is an accomplished Advanced Practice Physiotherapist with over three decades of dedicated experience in rehabilitation science and patient care. She has spent their entire career at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, ON, where she has served as an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist since 2006, after a long tenure as a Physiotherapist starting in 1987.


In addition to clinical practice, Caroline has made significant contributions to the field of education, holding Lecturer Status in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto from 2013 to 2016. Her commitment to student development has been recognized multiple times, including numerous Physical Therapy Recognition Awards from the University of Toronto.

Academically, Caroline holds a Master of Rehabilitation Science (2010) from the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Medicine, and a Bachelor of Science (Physical Therapy) (1987) from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine. She also completed the ACPAC Program through the University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital in 2006.


Caroline's expertise and leadership have been formally recognized with prestigious accolades, including The Leadership and Quality Improvement Award from St. Michael’s Hospital (2015) and the Health Disciplines Interprofessional Collaboration Award (2013-2014).

 Dr. Ophir Vinik is a Staff Rheumatologist at St. Michael's Hospital, where he has been a valued member of the team since 2013. He completed his internal medicine and rheumatology training at the University of Toronto, where he maintains extensive involvement in medical education for students, residents, and rheumatology fellows. Dr. Vini

 Dr. Ophir Vinik is a Staff Rheumatologist at St. Michael's Hospital, where he has been a valued member of the team since 2013. He completed his internal medicine and rheumatology training at the University of Toronto, where he maintains extensive involvement in medical education for students, residents, and rheumatology fellows. Dr. Vinik practices general rheumatology with a special clinical interest in inflammatory muscle conditions, which led him to create the Myositis Clinic at St. Michael's Hospital. Recognized as a provincial center of excellence, this clinic provides complex and specialized care to patients with myositis through a unique collaboration with the neurology department and allied health professionals, and cross-site partnership with Providence Healthcare Rehabilitation Hospital. His expertise in this area is further demonstrated by his published research in major journals on the topics of myositis and myopathy. Dr. Vinik also serves as a consultant on the inpatient service and is a key referral source for adolescents transitioning from the Hospital for Sick Children. His commitment to education and mentorship was recently recognized with the prestigious Dr. Robert Sargeant Postgraduate Education Award in 2024. As program faculty for the ACPAC program, he has a strong investment in training interprofessional staff, underscoring his dedication to collaborative care.

 Dr. Koppikar is a rheumatologist at Women’s College Hospital and an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. He is a general rheumatologist with a clinical and academic interest in point-of-care musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS) in inflammatory arthritis, and is actively involved in the clinical, research, and educational work 

 Dr. Koppikar is a rheumatologist at Women’s College Hospital and an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. He is a general rheumatologist with a clinical and academic interest in point-of-care musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS) in inflammatory arthritis, and is actively involved in the clinical, research, and educational work of the WCH Psoriatic Arthritis Program. He pursued advanced fellowship training in MSKUS and founded the Rheumatology MSKUS Clinic at WCH in 2021. He is a frequent invited speaker and has published on MSKUS in several high-impact academic journals.

His work also focuses on advancing innovative models of care, particularly in regional and underserved settings, with an emphasis on integrating extended role practitioners into rheumatology care. He serves as Director of the Timmins Arthritis Program, delivering multidisciplinary care across Northeastern Ontario. As former Chair of the Ontario Rheumatology Association Northern Ontario Committee, he secured over $1.5M in Ministry of Health funding to support ACPAC training and integration, significantly improving access to rheumatologic care across Northern Ontario.

Dr. Koppikar holds a Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) from Maastricht University and is the Education Director and Basic Course Co-Director for the Canadian Rheumatology Ultrasound Society (CRUS). He is an active educator of medical trainees and allied health professionals and a recipient of multiple teaching awards.

Dr. Semalulu is a Rheumatologist and Clinical Associate at St. Michael’s Hospital, University of Toronto. She completed Internal Medicine and Rheumatology training at McMaster University, followed by a Lupus Fellowship at the Toronto Lupus Clinic and Research Program, supported by the Geoff Carr Lupus Fellowship. She holds an MPH from the

Dr. Semalulu is a Rheumatologist and Clinical Associate at St. Michael’s Hospital, University of Toronto. She completed Internal Medicine and Rheumatology training at McMaster University, followed by a Lupus Fellowship at the Toronto Lupus Clinic and Research Program, supported by the Geoff Carr Lupus Fellowship. She holds an MPH from the University at Buffalo. She is pursuing a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Care Research at IHPME, with training in the Clinician Investigator Program, and is a recipient of the CIHR Canada Graduate Scholarship Doctoral Research Award. She is also a co-founder of the Black Physicians of Canada. Her research focuses on racial disparities in systemic lupus erythematosus, with interests in health equity and global health.

She also serves as an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Medicine and a tutor in the Health Science Research course at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine. She is establishing a multidisciplinary lupus clinic, alongside Advanced Practice Physiotherapist and ACPAC-trained clinician, Angelo Papachristos - a co-founder at Rheum Academy, integrating ACPAC roles in triage and care delivery, to improve access and address the complex needs of lupus patients.
